Why Gathered Worship Matters

Why Sunday Worship Is Central to the Christian Life

Our culture often says, “I can follow Jesus without the church. I don’t need to gather with others to be spiritual.” But the Bible teaches otherwise. From the days of Israel’s assemblies to the gatherings of the early church in Acts, God’s people have always met together.

Hebrews 10:24–25 is clear: “Do not neglect to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encourage one another.” In other words, not gathering is not an option for a Christian—at least not if you believe the Bible and want to follow Christ. God designed worship with His people to be the very place where He meets us, strengthens us, and sends us out in hope.

But what if you’re not a Christian? Or what if you’re unsure what you believe? Why would gathering matter for you? Here’s why: worship is where you come face-to-face with the living God. It’s where the questions of your heart—about purpose, forgiveness, truth, and hope—are answered not by human opinion but by the Word of God. It’s where Christ Himself is proclaimed, not as an idea to consider, but as a Savior to be received.

At Central Presbyterian Church, we don’t gather for entertainment or tradition. We gather because Christ is real, and because He changes lives. He has changed ours, and He can change yours.

This Sunday marks our launch of morning worship. We’d love for you to come see for yourself. Join us at 9:30 AM at Deerfield Elementary School (2 Deerfield Ave, Irvine, 92604). Evening worship continues at 6:30 PM at 2081 Business Center Dr, Irvine, 92612.

Even if you’ve been far from God, even if you’ve doubted or resisted, even if you’ve thought church has nothing to offer—you are welcome. Take a step. Come and see. You may discover that what you’ve been searching for all along is not religion, but a Savior.
