What we believe.

At Central Presbyterian, we hold to the historic Christian faith as expressed in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments.

  • The Bible is God’s inspired and trustworthy Word. It guides everything we believe and do.

  • We are saved by God’s grace alone, through faith in Jesus Christ—not by our own works.

  • The good news of Jesus isn’t just for Sundays. It shapes every part of life.

From the very beginning, Christians have gathered on the Lord’s Day — Sunday — to worship the risen Christ. Worship is not just a personal practice, but a shared life where God calls His people together to hear His Word, sing His praise, and find encouragement in His presence.

At Central Presbyterian, we treasure the gift of gathered worship. It’s the heartbeat of our life together, the place where faith is nourished, and where we are sent out with hope for the week ahead.

Where we worship.

What to Expect - During Worship

“Serve the LORD with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!” Psalm 100

  • Worship starts with God’s initiative. He gathers His people by His Word, so we begin by hearing Scripture that invites us into His presence. We don’t come to impress Him; He calls us because He is gracious.

  • We answer God’s call with a psalm—God’s own songs. Singing joins our minds and hearts, and helps the whole church respond together.

  • We hear God’s good design for life (His law) and a clear promise of forgiveness in Jesus (the gospel). The law humbles us; the gospel lifts us. Both are essential: truth without grace would crush us; grace without truth would not change us.

  • Because we fall short, we admit our sins to God—together and sincerely. Confession isn’t for show; it’s the doorway to healing. We come clean because God is merciful.

  • Having heard God’s promise of pardon, we sing. Gratitude is the natural response of forgiven people.

  • A pastor leads us in praying for our church family, our neighbors, and the nations. Often we conclude with the Lord’s Prayer—the simple, sturdy prayer Jesus taught His disciples:

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

  • Members and regular attenders give to support the church’s ministry. Guests, please feel no pressure to give. Giving is an act of worship and a response to God’s generosity.

  • We listen to a reading from the Old Testament. All Scripture points us to Christ and teaches us God’s character and promises.

  • We also hear from the New Testament. The public reading of the Bible ensures God’s voice is the loudest in the room.

  • The sermon explains a passage of Scripture and applies it to real life, always leading us to Jesus. God grows faith through His Word, understood and believed.

  • Truth calls for trust. We answer God’s Word by singing, committing ourselves to follow Him.

  • Jesus gave His church a simple meal of bread and the cup to proclaim His death and strengthen believers. Each week our elders serve in the rows so you can remain seated; we eat and drink together after a brief reading and prayer.
    Who should take it?
If you follow Jesus, have been baptized, and belong to a Christian church, please join us. If you’re not ready today, feel no pressure to participate—use the quiet to pray and consider Christ’s invitation.

  • We sometimes recite the Apostles’ Creed or Nicene Creed. These short, time-tested summaries help us say—together—what the Bible teaches and connect us with the church across centuries and around the world.

  • God sends us into the week with a blessing from Scripture. We leave with His promise and peace, to love Him and our neighbors in the power of the Holy Spirit.

The Bible shows worship as a dialogueGod calls and speaks to us in His Word, and we respond with praise, confession, prayer, trust, and obedience. Below is a short guide to each part of our service and why we do it.
